TRIESNECKER

BRIEF DESCRIPTION
A 'continental' area, surrounded by Mare Vaporum, Sinus Medii and Sinus Aestuum. There is a complex system of clefts in the vicinity of the crater Triesnecker. The region contains the landing sites of the probes Surveyor 4 and Surveyor 6.  Refer to your Antonin Rukl lunar atlas chart on page 93. Sinus Medii is the alleged site of the Hoagland "Shard". We now have a Japanese spacecraft Kaguya film of the area, as well as a flyover video analysis by Dr. Mark Carlotto, see both below. See also LRO/WAC-59, below.
