BRIEF DESCRIPTION 
    A continental area with several badly damaged craters. The effects 
of  the cataclysm that created Mare Imbrium can be seen crossing this area.
 There  is an interesting row of 'diminishing' craters: Halley, Hind, Hipparchus 
 C and Hipparchus L. The Apollo 16 mission landed some distance north of the
 crater Descartes. Refer to your copy of the Antonin Rukl lunar atlas chart,
 page 117.
